Hundreds of gambling machines seized In Miami

In recent years gambling machines flooded everywhere in South Florida with the authorities turning their backs. But now that casino gambling has been expanded in the state hundreds of those have been seized in Miami as to protect gambling interests. Casinos have become more prevalent in South Florida since lawmakers changed the gambling laws this year. Legislators reached an agreement with the Seminole Indians to allow blackjack at five of their seven casinos.

Mid-terms election and gambling

As last year Illinois lawmakers passed a law that allowed video gambling in the state, any town was able to opt out of the law by banning video gambling. But now lawmakers will likely discuss gambling expansion on a much bigger scale in the coming months. Mid-term elections take place next week around the US, and the turnover could lead to many current lawmakers losing their positions in their state.

Harrah's try to move on a new Philadelphia casino project

Harrah’s Entertainment keeps on spreading its wings on the US casino gaming industry. The company just did a move that would signal more expansion: it has been named as a new partner in the stalled Foxwoods Casino project in Philadelphia. As Harrah’s already owns and operates Chester casino which is just fifteen miles away from the Foxwoods site, it would be allowed under Pennsylvania law to own only 33 percent of the project in Philadelphia.

US Gaming revenue: $80.5 billion in 2009

Consulting firm Richard K. Miller and Associates (RKMA) released a new report revealing that gross gaming revenue in the U.S. totaled $80.5 billion in 2009. The study “Casinos, Gaming, and Wagering 2010” provided in-depth analysis regarding the amount of money retained by casinos, racetracks, lotteries, and other gaming hosts.

The alliance of Atlantic City casino owners

As all the efforts made over the past couple of years to revive the struggling Atlantic City casino industry, the local casino owners decided to pool $30 million of their money trying to turn around business. The hope is that by working together, they can bring gamblers back to Atlantic City. “The past few years have been rough on all eleven of the casinos in Atlantic City” Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz claimed. “Although they are all competitors, these casino owners also understand what is at stake if business continues on its current path. They had to do something to combat neighboring states, and the Alliance was a wise decision”.
